Caridad Martinez is a graduate of La Escuela Nacional de Arte in La Havana, Cuba, where she studied with Alicia and Fernando Alonso, Joaquin Banegas, Azary Plisetzki,Ramona de Saa and Karemia Moreno.  As a principal dancer of the National Ballet of Cuba, she performed as a principal and as a soloist in classical and contemporary ballets, including, Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, Le Silphydes, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Paquita, Pas de Quatre, Don Quixote, Times out of Mind, Plasmasis, Muñecos and Carmen.
     
     Ms. Martinez has coached and taught in the BNC, and she has taught in North America, South America, Canada and Europe.  She was Artistic Director of The Cuban School in Veracruz, Mexico and Artistic Director and Choreographer of The Havana-Ballet Theater.  Ms. Martinez has also choreographed for The Hispanic Heritage Awards and the acclaimed director, Julian Schnabel, for the celebrated film, "Before Night Falls."  

     Ms. Martinez is considered one of the leading figures of the Performing Arts in Cuba.
Ms. Martinez has received numerous awards for her work both as a dancer and as a choreographer.  Ms. Martinez has also been the recipient for two consecutive years of the prestigious The Association of Writers and Artists from Cuba Award.

    Currently, Ms. Martinez lives in New York City, where she is Director of the Brooklyn Ballet School, she runs the J&L Dance Center's Ballet Program. Caridad is organizing for the second year consecutive the Summer Youth Dance Intensive at the 92 Street Y in the city, she is a choreographer for the Repertory Company and Brooklyn Ballet. Caridad Martinez is Technical Consultant for The Cuban Ballet School in Veracruz which she founded in 1995 currently leaded by Daniela Ortiz. Ms Martinez is collaborating with the 92 street Y, Cuban Ballet School, Ballet Clasico Santiago, Ballet Concerto creating an artistic & Cultural Interchange.
